Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our hospitals finance team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing core accounting functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and supporting financial reporting processes. Your expertise will help maintain accurate financial records, facilitate smooth month-end close procedures, and contribute to the overall financial health of the organization. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance sheet schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes using financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar systems.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, including ledger review and financial statement preparation.
  • Support compliance efforts related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and internal audit procedures.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and perform detailed account analysis to identify discrepancies or variances.
  • Maintain accurate data entry within various accounting systems like Workday, ADP, Kronos, Ceridian, UltiPro, PeopleSoft, or Paychex.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on budgeting, financial reporting, and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.


Requirements

  • Proven experience in hospital and corporate accounting environments with a strong understanding of GAAP standards.
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms; experience with financial systems like Workday or ADP is a plus.
  • Knowledge of technical accounting principles including journal entries, account reconciliation, debits & credits, and double-entry bookkeeping.
  • Strong numeracy skills coupled with excellent attention to detail for data entry and account analysis tasks.
  • Ability to perform Excel data analysis efficiently and accurately; proficiency in Excel functions is highly desirable.
  • Experience managing accounts payable/receivable processes and payroll management using systems like Paychex or Kronos is advantageous.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
