At Sharon Regional Health System, we proudly participate in Pennsylvania’s Safe Haven Law, also known as the Newborn Protection Act, providing a compassionate and confidential option for parents in crisis. If you are unable to care for your newborn—up to 28 days old—you may safely and anonymously surrender your baby to any member of our staff, such as a nurse or doctor in the emergency department, without fear of criminal prosecution, as long as the infant has not been harmed. Our team will immediately ensure your baby receives prompt medical attention and loving care, while coordinating with child welfare services to secure a bright future. We are here to support you—no questions asked—and encourage you to share any family medical history if you wish, to aid in your child’s well-being.
